I can successfully build delft3d_open.sln by prepare_sln.py within 69179 source code, but the results don't have dimr_open.sln, how to config the python file to build the dimr.dll and dimr.exe.

Time Varying Boundary for WAVE

I am trying to set a time varying boundary for a WAVE model. I am hindcasting for a period of time where I have observed wave conditions at my boundary from a buoy. I would like to set my boundary conditions to this observed data. Any ideas on how to do this? There is a reference to using time series as boundary conditions in the manual but I do not understand what it is saying to do.

I am trying to export depth averaged velocity from a map file using quickplot. I am able to view the plot. But I am not able to export to time series CSV.
I get the following error

Domain Dries Up Due to Overflow

Hi,

I am simulating a non-hydrostatic model with a simple, low-angle-slope bathymetry using 100 z layers and 0.01 mins timestep. I also impose unidirectional 4 cm/s current as boundary condition and uniform-and-constant zero water level boundary on the other end. However, the model dries out (ie. the water elevation becomes equal to the water depth) after 7 mins (a half of smoothing time, 14 mins). The velocity profile shows extremely high value, up to 1000 m/s.
Has somebody encountered this situation before? Any lead is much appreciated.
Please find attached the model set up files and the velocity profiles.

It appears the model runs through the wave computations okay, but crashes when it's trying to do the output:

My domain is pretty large with:

Gridresolution : MXC 465 MYC 1126
: MCGRD 407901

I watched the system memory usage as it runs and it's < 15%. CPU usage is 100% during the iterations, but it drops down to ~5% when it crashes processing the output request.

I derefined the grid to:

Gridresolution : MXC 233 MYC 563
: MCGRD 102115

and it runs fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not been able to compile successfully with Intel oneAPI 2023, but I did manage to track down download links for Intel oneAPI 2021 (Base Kit and HPC Kit) on the Intel community forum (see below). I'm working now on reinstalling and trying to compile again with ifort2021.

Hello scholars, first time here, I am working on the hydrodynamic-sediment module of delft 3d fm by myself, and I have encountered several problems in dealing with the sediment accumulation in the river section, and I would like to ask for help from experts around the world through this platform.
The questions are as follows: How to calculate the siltation of a river segment? I am trying to get the volume change to see if the section is siltation or scouring. But when exporting by observing the cross section, it is not clear what is the unit and formula of the flux for bedload output from the cross section.

Regarding the integration of Delft3D4 with the project's framework, I understand that you have managed to compile Delft3D4 with conda, allowing it to be installed with "conda install -c gbrey delft3d4" for OSX and Linux. While this solution works, there are a few issues that need to be addressed.
Firstly, the repository's structure includes several third-party software that are available as conda packages but are not strictly necessary for the integration. This can make the setup more complicated than it needs to be. It would be beneficial to streamline the repository and remove any unnecessary dependencies.
Secondly, the Makefiles in the repository may not be well-suited for the task at hand. It would be ideal if the developers could update the Makefiles to better support the integration with Delft3D4.
In terms of the repository itself, it would be preferable if it were hosted on a platform like GitHub or GitLab.

Spatially varying roughness file not correctly generated

Hi there,

I am creating a spatially varying roughness file as part of some hydrodynamic modelling I am doing on the GBR. I followed the steps found in another thread to produce a spatially varying roughness file. However, when I generate this file and check it, inside the file are a lot of negative values. I have specified the values I wanted using the polygons and assign values under the operations tab.

Am I missing a step here as to why it keeps producing a file like this?

I am making a spatially varying roughness file and everytime I generate this in QUCIKIN it produces negative values even though I have specified the values I wanted. Have you had this issue?

Ok, so I manage to compile the files by using visual studio 2019 version 16.8.2, and extracting the files w_BaseKit_p_2021.2.0.2871_offline.exe and w_HPCKit_p_2021.2.0.2901_offline.exe, and then running bootstraper.exe manually. I use common WinRAR to extract the files.
